After the 9/11 incident next Oscars Tom Cruise gave the answer to the question “whether we should continue to celebrate the magic of movies? He said”More Than Ever”. A movie is not just a vision of the director, a portrayal by an actor or a story telling medium, it can sometimes totally bring about a change in the thinking of the person watching it. The movies which entertain provide a breakaway from our busy life’s; similarly action movie fill our nerves with the adrenalin. The movies that are related to sports are mostly motivating. They reveal a “never give up” attitude, make you believe that hard work and alliance is something which pays dividends.
When a person goes into a theater he goes from a reason very different from the other. A movie like Forest Gump which has so many flavors in it for the audience to feel, I find how simplicity can be so complicated. Next day when I had an argument with my friend about the movie he said “I find it to cheesy, unappealing and out of the world”. But one thing for sure, movie had certainly made a mark on my mind since it wanted to show how easily we ignore simplicity and get busy probing the things which are beyond our scope to understand. That’s why a dapper philosopher once said “the toughest puzzle to solve is which is simpler than the rest”. How about a movie like Schindler’s List, a splendid representation of the situation prevailing at that time, here full credit goes to Spielberg for incorporating the miniature of the factors. The beauty of the movie lies in encouraging the entrepreneurs that sometimes it's not just your vision but the prevailing times which can bring about a revolution in your bussiness.
More often you see an actor playing a part which is very similar to your real life. The character in behavior, flamboyance might be very similar which you are carrying in real world, so what we do we watch the movie with eager because it might go through stages in life also which we have gone through and might come out with an answer which we have not been able to find. A movie like UP IN THE AIR George Clooney plays a character which was very easy for me to relate to. Now since the character meets a tragic end does it make me think I will change myself? I guess not but I will definitely be more aware of the fact that such things might happen and I have to be more attentive of my surroundings and come up with some good decisions than clumsy errors. This is how a character adds on to our way of approaching life by presenting before us an array of hypothetical situations and their unique way of finding solutions to that.
Movies are sometimes pain since they have nothing to offer except economic carnage. The movies made for the sole purpose of entertainment is not in my criteria of discussion since they are like dreams some are good and some are bad. The movies I wish to see are the ones who bring about some changes in a person either short duration or for long duration. They have stood as encouragement for many, since people find readymade solutions for the sudden anomalies in life. In worst of periods we catch a movie to pass the sluggish time and carry nothing but dissapointment. Sometime we enjoy the movie so much that we not only take the souvenir but also carry a learning which the movie had to offer. But everything depends on how a person perceives the message which has been communicated. We all have same organs but they function entirely different, some understand the movie in a simplistic form but other might derive a complicated aspect of it.
It does not matter whether the movie is an action/drama /thriller/romance/tragedy/comedy/situational portrayal/biography what matters is the lucidity of the thought, the art of delivering a message, the efficient portrayal of the character by an actor, if these things lack the finishing then a movie will never appeal to the audience and they will leave the theater just as they came in……….!
